Vital Families in Schools
Imagine in Little Rock if every student that was struggling had a caring mentor who helped the student excel in academics, modeled, and taught praiseworthy character, and provided positive connections and opportunities in the community.
Imagine if every family had a church family that came alongside them to be a resource when needed. How would Little Rock look different in the short-term and long-term?
This is the vision of Vital Families in Schools.
Purpose Statement: The Vital Families in Schools initiative seeks to unite, equip, and mobilize churches in greater Little Rock to partner with public schools to strengthen families through: family support opportunities, student mentoring, and family to family connections.
A Vital Families in Schools Church-School Partnership is an intentional relationship were City Church Network, the local church and a school are working together to serve the families who attend that school. Healthy families are vital to student success and community transformation.
Through these partnerships, we will prayerfully one day see:
- Higher student reading scores
- Higher graduation rates
- Lower number of discipline problems in schools
- Fewer families in crisis
- Lower crime rates
- Community transformation
Using this model, the church and school partnership can begin with any of these three activities and grow to increased relationships with the students and families. And we will see God being glorified in a greater way through the collective impact of churches working together to meet a critical community need.
